Democracy - does it really give power to people?

           My opinion is NO.

Does democracy really define giving power to people in its framework? I think NO.
          
Other than voting, people have NO power at all.

It looks to be more of whitewash. OR has certain aspects of it been hidden from

Let's take few examples:

                 We people can vote a person to power. That's it!! FULL STOP there...
                 Can we really give feedback of that person?
                 Can we do appraisal/assessment of that person?
                 Can we bring him/her down from power before 5 years?
                 Can we punish him/her if any mistake is done?
                 Can we stop him/her from changing party or changing words/promises?
               
                 Government employees are people servants (Jan Sevaks). They say.... Really?
                 Does any servant of our house gets treatment like king (though he/she must be respected as they are humans and they are earning money by working and not by begging)? No, then why these so called government servants are treated like king by everyone (they expect also that)?
                 Whereever a politician or government officer goes, they are welcomed with garland, VIP treatment and so many people accompanying them. Why all these if they are Jan Sevaks?
                 Aren't they suppose to be focused on doing seva to people? Why do they need all of those?
                 Why democracy system has all of these practices?
                 Why they should be treated differently, specially?
               
                 If they are Jan Sevaks, then why RTI concept was not part of democracy framework?
                 Why there should be so much of debate and struggle to make it happen? RTI was introduced only few years back. Even then it is not everywhere.
                 Shouldn't RTI be a default feature or by-product of any function within democracy framework? Since democracy is for the people by the people to the people.

                 If democracy is for the people by the people to the people, then do we have control over the laws that are being passed. The ruling government will introduce those laws which are discussed within the assembly of all ministers and be decided to pass or reject the law.
                 Then what about people? Do those ministers really connect with people before taking decision? No. Are we able to do anything?
                 Just because they are elected by us, it does not mean that he/she is representing our needs/opinions.

Bengaluru Traffic Police - Digitizing of traffic fine collection

             Digital payment for traffic fines is not recommendable as per my opinion (in general). Digital payments is very convenient option but a fine has to cause inconvenience, otherwise people will not think or care of avoiding breaking or not following rules. We need to reach a state where number of traffic violations are just a mere percentage in decimal digits out of total number of vehicles.

             Anyway, in contrast, Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) is introducing digital payment options for collecting fines, as it is like any other company.

             Is the intention of BTP to make money OR make people follow rules? With swiping machines, it will be very easy to pay the fine. How will it deter people from making mistakes? How will it enable people to learn following rules? How will it inspire people to not break rules? There should be some inconvenience due to which people will follow rules. 

             There was a board in US for speeding - "If you are in a hurry, speed ticket can slow you down. So drive within the speed limit to avoid delay". I need to honestly tell that I don't know if US traffic police accepts fine money in digital mode or not. But here our traffic police is always ready with solutions for making more money than making people to follow rules.

Maruti Driving School - Why no auto shift gear cars are not part of learning vehicles?

                  Maruti has launched revolutionary automatic cars which gives mileage of manual cars. It is called as Auto Shift Gear cars.
                  I had been to Maruti driving school to enquire about driving classes and shockingly came to know that auto shift gear vehicles are not available as part of learning cars fleet.
                  I am wondering if anyone going for automatic car as a first vehicle has to forcefully learn manual car driving just for learning. If one is so much interested in driving manual car, why will he/she will opt for automatic car?
                  Personally speaking for some reason, I don't prefer the manual cars not due to gears, but due to clutch and accelerator co-ordination. Anyway I have learnt the manual car driving just for the license and has there was no option that long back in India.
                  Now that Maruti has launched auto shift gear cars in many of its models and it has its own driving school, then why auto shift gear cars are not part of its learning fleet? A person has to learn manual driving car if he/she wants to learn driving car. Then why will he/she opt for auto shift gear car by paying an extra premium to the price and instead will opt for manual car which is much lesser.

                  If Maruti wants to promote auto shift gear cars, then it has to include automatic cars in its learning fleet. This will make all other driving schools to include the automatic cars. Eventually automatic cars will get promotion and more people can opt for it.

Bhumata Ranragini Brigade - bias vs bias

            Today I read about this group trying to bring gender equality and get women equal rights in a temple. While going through various articles on this, I got few questions which wanted to ask them. So, I searched for their website or details but did not find any to send these questions.

             They are:

• What is the purpose (real intent) behind their agitation?
• Do any of the members of that group belong to that place or been close to that temple or connected to that temple in any form or know the entire history of the temple? Looks like no, then how can they label something as wrong without knowing head or tail of it?
• The temple has women heading their trust now which is supposedly after these group's initial protest, which should be considered as win of them. But they did not stop. Also, the women heading trust are also supporting practice of not allowing women. This means that there are women not finding any fault with the practice.
• In none of the articles, the group has shared a logical reason for breaking the very old practice being followed by many years. Ideally they should have gone through the history to find the reason behind this practice in order to know if that practice is logical or just some men's bias towards women. But that's not the case.
• If it is proved that the practice is for causing gender bias and not some spiritual science, then everyone should happily end the ban and proudly allow women.
• Gender inequality is everywhere and also areas where it is much more important to the people's life, which upon changed, can bring lot of positive changes in our country. But here I do not see any such value addition to any at all other than few getting publicity and stint in politics.
• If the intent is pure, then they should bring the facts of this tradition and get rid of it. They should not just go with feelings regarding something that is not known to us.
• I had been to that temple some months back and saw that no one - men and women - were allowed near to shrine. So why fuss?
• Also, allowing women is more beneficial and profitable for the temple trust and local businesses, then also temple is not allowing and continuing to centuries old practice intact. Why? Everyone should think about this?
• The group is demanding to accept their say just like that. Is that rational and logical and equality? Why can't they research on it? or ask for a committee of religious experts to do fact finding?
• Also, they have not taken opinions of that city's local people? The members of this group does not stay in that place, then how can a third person who does not know anything about that place can set directives?
• If there are any implications because of changing the centuries old tradition, then who is accountable? The group will be no where. If someone remembers and questions, they may even blame that too on the trust by saying that "they did not tell us about it". Anyway practically, none of us can identify that something wrong if happened in future is due to break in the tradition (due to which all of our life is so complex).

How forcing something on to someone is equality?

Isn't it using bias to eradicate so called bias?

I have put out my thoughts or opinions or questions so that to really put logic into what they are trying to do. Now that sri sri Ravi Shankar guruji has pitched in as mediator, I expect that he informs us the true reason behind such a practice and helps to resolve these differences, without just being diplomatical or trying to be nice.
